NZ’s Wealth 1989 Part B & Beyond
Compared with the previous chart there is just slightly under a 100% increase of wealth per every ten years gained by the top 3% of nz’s population. This would mean that by the year 2000 the top 3% of the nation would own approx. 50% of nz’s wealth.
The same projection taken on income, would indicate that the top 20% of nz’s population would bring in approx. 50% of the nation’s income.
Add to this, that the highest income people are statistically the greatest consumers of environmental resources and we have a completely unsustainable relationship that must be addressed.
